Dr. Fauci Had Vocal Cord Surgery: What Are Vocal Cord Polyps?

Dr. Anthony Fauci recently had surgery to remove a vocal cord polyp on his vocal cords.


Vocal cord polyps often happen as a result of voice overuse or misuse. Anyone can get vocal cord polyps but professional singers, cheerleaders, people who speak a lot for work (public speakers, sales individuals, etc) and others can be at particular risk.


Professional singers Adele and Keith Urban, among others, have had vocal cord polyps removed.
