4 Powerful Messages to Lift Your Spirits

Writer: Dr. Jen CaudleDr. Jen Caudle

Updated: Mar 22

Are you feeling down, discouraged, worried, intimidated, depressed, or just downright unsure of yourself? Here are four things you need to hear right now.

1) It's Okay to Fail.

Just because you fail doesn't mean you're a failure. Success often comes from failing and these are often times of tremendous growth.

  • "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas Edison

  • "I never lose. I either win or learn." -Nelson Mandela

  • "Sometimes we're tested not to show our weaknesses, but to discover our strengths." -success.com.

2) You're Better Than You Think.

Self-doubt, negative thoughts, and uncertainty plague us all. It's easy to compare ourselves with what we feel is expected. The truth is, you're better than you think.

  • "You will always be too much of something for someone: too big, too loud, too soft, too edgy. If you round out your edges, you will lose your edge." - Danielle LaPorte

  • "Drop the idea of becoming someone, because you are already a masterpiece. You cannot be improved. You have only to come to it, to know it, to realize it." -Osho

3) Sign Up for the Class, Take the Trip, Ask the Guy or Girl for a Date

Pretty self-explanatory. Just do it. Start doing the things you have always wanted to do. Life waits for no one, so get started.

  • "You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough." -Mae West

  • "You don't have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step." -MLK

  • "Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What's important is the action. You don't have to be confident. Just do it and eventually, the confidence will follow." -Carrie Fisher

4) Don't Dim Your Light for Others (or Yourself)

As RuPaul says, "You Better Work!"

  • "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?"- Marianne Williamson

Sometimes life is hard, sometimes life is disappointing and sometimes we don't know if everything "will be ok." But hang in there guys and gals, you got this!
